Venue (map)

Level 11-555 West Hastings Street Vancouver, BC V6B 4N6

Introduction

The Healthtech SME Program represents Circle Innovation’s commitment to co-create healthcare technologies alongside the Government of Canada, and it is projected to support the growth of 40 SMEs, while generating $14 million in revenue throughout British Columbia.

As part of this program, Circle Innovation has partnered with Kobalt.io and Simon Fraser University to train B.C. companies and their employees on how to rethink cybersecurity as a value defense, and revenue assurance strategy, with a main driver being the business values it can bring. A first networking and training initiative will take place on Tuesday, October 17th, - 9am to 12pm - and it will form the basis for future programs helping B.C. companies train more than 600 workers across the province by 2025.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month

The initial networking and training event will coincide with Cyber Month, an internationally recognized campaign held each October to help the public learn more about the importance of cyber security. The constant rise in malicious cyber activities challenges healthcare organizations to stay in control and keep their corporate and customer data safe. The advent of generative AI and its related tools places even greater pressure on data security. Through its industry partner Kobalt.io and other stakeholders, Circle Innovation will facilitate the delivery of a cybersecurity program intended to enhance the competitiveness of B.C.’s healthcare sector, while supporting critical advances in cyberhealth.

Simon Fraser University

SFU will host the networking and training event at VentureLabs, where attendees will benefit from valuable interactions with other cofounders, investors, and entrepreneurs. Circle Innovation’s leading speaker, Fred Boissiere, vCISO at Kobalt.io, will share his perspective on the nature of cyber health risks, particularly in the context of AI while discussing strategies and best practices on how to manage risks and plan an effective response to cyber threats.

The program of speakers will also include perspectives and shared learnings from private Healthtech companies, government, and the investor community. Networking opportunities will bracket the morning sessions – a coffee and breakfast snacks hour from 9-10am, as well as a lunchtime snacks and sandwiches networking hour from noon to 1pm. Participants in this event will be drawn from private industry, universities, government, and NGOs.
